Grief and Loss
This training provides participants a greater understanding of the difference between grief & loss and how to use the Stages of Grief as a tool. Participants learn about chronic sorrow and compassion fatigue, and the impact both can have on caregivers while understanding how to continue to do their important work after loss. Resources will be provided for participants in the form of coping skills and additional community resources. A subsequent peer-to-peer support group is being developed to add continuous support.
Understanding Anxiety
This training provides participants a greater understanding of anxiety in general and more specifically during the time of Covid-19. Participants will understand the difference between stress related anxiety and anxiety disorders as well as learn signs and symptoms to identify when anxiety interferes with one’s life. Coping skills will be taught in order to relieve some of the stress and uncertainty that can trigger anxiety.
Understanding Depression
This training provides participants a greater understanding of depression and the difference between sadness and depression during the time of Covid-19. Participants will learn signs and symptoms to identify when depression can begin to interfere with their lives as a caregiver, or a colleague’s life, or a friend’s life. SMART GOALS is a tool that will be taught as a way of coping with depression in order that someone struggling with this can use small attainable goals towards progression.
Trauma Informed Care
The Trauma-Informed Care Training is an up to 2 hour class that will provide participants a better understanding of trauma, including how it impacts thoughts, feelings and behaviors of people we interact with. Additionally, Trauma-informed care will allow participants to approach their work and life as caregivers from a trauma informed lens, which will allow participants to better care for their friends, patients, and themselves. Participants will also gain resources and coping tools to help them navigate their roles as caregivers, reducing the rate of burn out among caregivers.
