Language of Care

The Language of Care Program offers language training contextualized for certain healthcare roles to more effectively communicate and support non-English speaking patients and their families. The programs may be moderately customized to meet employer or work-unit needs. Training is offered in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean and Russian for many patient-facing roles including clinical and clerical staff. The program also includes a cultural awareness component, which helps participants become more acquainted with some of the basic cultural beliefs and customs of the language group, especially as they relate to healthcare issues. The customized course may be 40 to 60 hours, meeting full or half-days.
