Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Cultural Competency (Part 3)

This course includes group activities and experiential learning exercises to deliver a highly engaging, meaningful, and impactful course. The curriculum is intended to create awareness, increase knowledge, and build strategy around working with a diverse workforce and patient population.

This course consists of four parts to be taken separately. This course must be taken in order.

Duration: 1 Hour (each part)

Total # of Hours: 4 (when all parts are taken)

 

Part 3: Cultural Competency (must take Parts 1 and 2 first)

Consideration of the influence culture has on a person’s understanding and engagement in healthcare will be emphasized, as well as identifying and practicing culturally competent strategies for interacting with co-workers, patients, residents and clients from different cultures. Participants will examine:

    • Diversity, cultural differences, and cultural norms.
    • Applying the concept of Cultural Humility to their normal practices.
    • Diversity in terms of current industry and cultural challenges.
    • Considerations for interaction with other cultures and recognizing the impact of culture on health.
