This module focuses on caring for clients with common long-term respiratory diseases that includes understanding the basics of Asthma and COPD as well as Bronchitis and Emphysema. This training will assist in identifying risk factors and symptoms common to these respiratory diseases. Participants will learn how to work with clients to prepare them for self-management.

Cherie Hepp graduated from Niagara University in 1978 with a Baccalaureate in Nursing. Her career began as a staff nurse on a High Risk OB unit and led to a Nurse Manager role for over 20 years until she shifted her energies towards nurse recruitment and retention. She served on the SEIU HCAP board for several years and was devoted to educating staff to their highest potential. Cherie was an active hands-on member of the first Labor/Management Initiative (LMI) in Western New York – 1199 SEIU/Kaleida Health: Partnering for Exceptional Care. Since “retirement” in 2018, she has continued on her healthcare journey as a facilitator for the Ladders to Value – WIO grant, Recruiter for On-line RN to BSN program at D’Youville College in Buffalo NY and most recently returned to a supportive nursing role during the COVID-19 pandemic.
